Steven Gerrard’s Rangers have earned only plaudits this season, but yesterday’s defending against Motherwell left a lot to be desired.

Having never previously gone behind, or conceded more than one goal in a match, Rangers left Fir Park with only a point in a 3-3 draw.

The third last minute goal of the season condemned Rangers. Motherwell were good for their point. Fans have also been vocally condemning the performance.

In the league Rangers have only won one of three, as well as having two men sent off in three games.

But far from be the end of the world, it’s really just the first bump in the road. Gerrard’s Rangers are still developing. If anyone knows that, it’s Graeme Souness.

Souness’ LOST two of his first three league games in Scotland.

Souness’ then famously went on to win Rangers first title in nine years, and pick up a league cup.

The similarities between the two “revolutions” don’t then end there. Souness completely revamped the Rangers team and brought it forward at a time of need. He brought stability and ambition back to Ibrox and was firey and confrontational at times. Graeme Souness also kickstarted 9IAR.

Steven Gerrard is tasked with doing the exact same.
