Rangers’ Europa League opponents Standard Liege have been handed a major boost as their entire squad come through the latest round of Covid-19 testing.
The Belgians were handicapped with a range of Covid issues in the first match in Belgium back in early November, with six players ruled out of that clash due to positive tests.
According to Belgian media [Le Soir], this will not be the case this time around with Standard Covid-free heading into the crunch clash in Glasgow.
However, everything isn’t completely plain sailing in the Standard camp with star striker Obbi Oularé publicly rowing with manager Phillipe Montanier in the press.
Oularé was dropped for Standard’s 0-0 draw with fierce rivals Anderlecht at the weekend and reacted angrily in the press before Montanier shut down his comments.
The situation has added some unnecessary tension into their camp ahead of the Rangers game but Standard will be looking to exact a level of revenge against the Gers in Glasgow.
Rangers ran out 2-0 winners in Belgium courtesy of a James Tavernier penalty and a Kemar Roofe wonder strike.
Standard currently sit bottom of Group D and must win if they are to qualify for the Europa League round of 32 whilst Rangers know a draw will be enough to edge them over the line.
Following last week’s 2-2 draw with Benfica, Rangers know that if they can at earn a point and also match the Portuguese giant’s results over the next two games they will qualify as group winners.
