The SPFL have failed to name any Rangers players in their Team of the Week, despite the Gers’ impressive win over Livingston at the weekend.
The Gers triumphed 3-0 over Livi at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon in a commanding display.

Ianis Hagi, Scott Wright and Kemar Roofe scored the goals and a clean sheet was kept as Steven Gerrard’s side went straight to the top of the Premiership table.
Four Gers stars – James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Calvin Bassey and Ryan Kent – made it into the WhoScored.com Premiership Team of the Week, with Tavernier the highest-rated performer after notching two assists from right-back and contributing to the clean sheet.
However, remarkably, no Ibrox players made it into the SPFL’s Team of the Week.
Clearly, it’s more difficult to be the standout player in your position across four divisions than one, but Rangers stars were named on a near-weekly basis in the select XI last season and five players from other Premiership clubs made the cut this time around.
The timing of the snub is interesting, given the ongoing row between the Gers and the SPFL regarding sponsorship.
The SPFL agreed a five-year deal with online used car marketplace ‘cinch’ prior to the start of the season and as part of the agreement, clubs are expected to display the cinch logo on at least one sleeve of their playing shirts, to advertise the brand inside their stadium and to name a ‘cinch man of the match’.
Rangers didn’t do any of those things on Saturday, prompting SPFL chairman Murdoch MacLennan to openly criticise the Light Blues.
The Scottish Sun have reported that the Gers feel they were within their rights to do as they did, though, and Follow Follow editor Mark Dingwall has since claimed that the SPFL outsourced the ‘heavy lifting’ for the cinch deal at great cost to member clubs.
