SPFL provide key update as Rangers steal march on Celtic in multiple areas

The SPFL have provided an update on the 2021/22 season with Rangers already stealing a march on Celtic in multiple areas ahead of their title defence.

On Friday afternoon, it was announced that the new campaigns in all four SPFL divisions are scheduled to get underway on Saturday 31 July.

The Gers will be looking to get off to a flying start, just as they did this season on their way to 55, but they won’t find out their fixtures for some time yet.

That information is due to be released on Tuesday 15 June at 9am.

Although there are still two rounds of fixtures remaining in the current Premiership campaign, Rangers will already feel they are in good shape to defend their crown, having stolen a march on arch-rivals Celtic in several areas over the past week.

The Gers continued to show their Old Firm dominance by recording a fourth derby victory of the season at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon, ensuring that they will carry momentum and plenty of confidence into the 2021/22 tussles between the two clubs.

Additionally, while the Hoops continue their search for a new manager, the stability at Rangers has allowed the club to enter the transfer market, securing Zambia international forward Fashion Sakala on a pre-contract deal.

And finally, over 20,000 Rangers season tickets have already been renewed [Rangers.co.uk], while Celtic are yet to even start their renewal process.

Everything appears to be organised and heading in the right direction at Ibrox while uncertainty reigns at Parkhead, leaving Steven Gerrard’s men in the driver’s seat.

In other news, Rangers are outperforming the likes of Bayern Munich, Man City and Barcelona in a key area.
