The SPFL are asking clubs to grant them special powers which could see them void the season with Rangers favourites for the Scottish Premiership crown.
The Ibrox club are currently six points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership and have now been installed as favourites for the crown as they charge for a legendary 55th title.
But under powers proposed by the SPFL to the 42 member clubs, should the coronavirus situation worsen between now and the end of the season the campaign could be called.
Under the powers, outlined here by PLZ Soccer, the SPFL are asking member clubs for permissions over six different questions:
Would you now support the resolution to give the SPFL board broad powers to manage Covid-19 related disruption?
Would you support the SPFL board being given power to impose a 3-0 defeat on clubs unwilling to unable to fulfil a league fixture?
With the uncertainty about the virus do you think it’s too early to take decision now about situations that could arise at the end of a curtailed season?
How many league games do you believe need to be completed for a season in a division to be considered valid?
Would you support a resolution giving the SPFL board the power to curtail the season in the event it cannot be completed by May 31st?

In the event an insufficient number of games have been played, would you give the SPFL board the power to void the season?
The final question will strike as the most ominous for Rangers fans who’ve seen their team make a blistering start to the Scottish Premiership campaign.
Covid-19 is obviously a sizeable issue across society and not just football but given the absolute debacle that emerged at the end of last season, fears will exist around SPFL being given controls.
The members’ body famously lost Dundee’s no vote before finding an altered yes vote to decide the campaign and hand Celtic a title and relegate Hearts, Partick Thistle and Stranraer.
Rangers infamously called for an independent investigation into the situation and the immediate suspension of SPFL chief Neil Doncaster in the wake of the incident.

This season’s SPFL Board is also made up of Neil Doncaster (CEO), Murdoch MacLennan (Chairman), Karyn McCluskey (non-executive), Steve Brown (St Johnstone), Les Gray (Hamilton Academical), Peter Lawwell (Celtic), Ross McArthur (Dunfermline Athletic), Ewen Cameron (Alloa Athletic), Ken Ferguson (Brechin City) and Gordon Thomson (Clyde).
With the relationship incredibly strained, would you trust these people making a judgement in Rangers’ favour on this season above all others?
