Last week, the SPFL announced the official prize pot for the Scottish league system.
That meant that Steven Gerrard’s side knew exactly what was at stake when they took on Aberdeen on Sunday.
Now that second place is secured, thoughts will naturally turn toward next season.

club announcing the pre-contract signing of Jake Hastie on Wednesday afternoon.

To go alongside that, the SPFL had an announcement of their own.
They confirmed that the fixture list for the 2019/20 season will be released on 21 June.
Broadcasters will then alter the schedule to suit, but we already know one thing for sure.
The first match weekend will commence on 3 August.
That’s when Stevie G’s side will set about going one better than this campaign.
Last time around, the Gers were landed with a trip to Pittodrie on the opening day. A 1-1 draw there got proceedings off on the wrong foot. Consequently, all involved will be hoping for an easier assignment, first up.
With the benefit of his third transfer window and hopefully a reinforced squad, Gerrard will hope to be in a position to mount a genuine challenge, in his second season in charge.
