The outlet which originally broke the story regarding a Covid-19 breach at Rangers has claimed that a source close to one of those implicated is “devastated” by the situation.
Football Insider was the first to release a story on the incident even if the outlet didn’t name any of those involved.
Rangers of course clarified the situation in public and with supporters by releasing a video during the week which implicated Bongani Zungu, Nathan Patterson, Calvin Bassey, Dapo Mebude and Brian Kinnear [Rangers].
All five were at a party in Glasgow’s west end which was broken up by police with 10 fixed penalty notices being issued.
Football Insider have returned to claim that Bassey, 21, is particularly “devastated” by the situation and is desperate to salvage his Rangers career.
The report claims Bassey has apologised “fulsomely” to Steven Gerrard but that he “accepts” it’s a huge task to win the faith of the club’s management.
Football Insider also claims that Bassey “accepts a major punishment is likely from the club as well as the Scottish FA”.

The situation will be particularly frustrating for Rangers fans who had taken a shine to Bassey during his first year at the club following a summer move from Leicester City’s academy.
The Rangers squad is also directly impacted by the challenges of losing Bassey as Borna Barisic’s deputy with the club now short in two positions.
