As Rangers prepare to face off against Czech side Slavia Prague in the Europa League Last 16 the club’s fans are buzzing for a tricky tie which is also considered winnable.

The Euro regulars of recent seasons have impressed again in this campaign and even knocked out Premier League Leicester and Brendan Rodgers to make this stage of the competition.

But whilst the Gers supporters are already wishing the next fortnight away, how have the Slavia Prague supporters reacted to the draw?

As the draw was announced on Twitter just like Rangers supporters about their side there were Slavia fans aplenty getting excited by the prospect of facing Steven Gerrard’s side.

With an exiting trip to Prague off the cards due to the pandemic it’s a crying shame for both fans but just like their Rangers counterparts Slavia supporters are excited for the matches:

@vlajkonos “I say they take it crazy”

@ Daniel357059353 “I often played for them a career in FIFA, a very nice team, a lot of offensive tuning, paying particular attention to Tavernier and Morelos”

@JTrojanek “How long are our fingers? First the lot in the home cup and now this… at the coach’s request! So I stare and clap my feet. It will be difficult, but it is a challenge that can be met again”

@forzamalan “One of life’s trips that will not be”

@Milan49756259 “Beauty! I volunteer for both matches! I don’t want anything for that. I’m just going to watch the epidemics! And open the champagne after advancing at the end of the series!”

@Sra17579510 “I’m surprised that the coach remembered that yesterday and now the team will really have it.”

@Axelros17854584 “The lot is of course perfect. Another gift for Jindra Trpišovský. I wish him all the best and we move on.”

@milos_hoffmann “Desired islands again. Let the boys use it!”

@thepetrzajic “Very attractive and playable, you can’t look forward to this! I’m backing Slavia”

Whilst these are unidiomatic translations the general gist is that their fans believe this is a winnable match and have pointed out their manager asked for it before the draw.

“I would like to take Slavia to the British Isles again,” said “Jindra” as he is called by the Slavia fans [Daily Record].

“To play against Rangers would be fantastic, not only because I have never been there.”

By now plenty will have seen the Slavia team cheering on the plane back from Leicester as they got the news that they’d be playing Rangers in the next round.

Watch it again below – it’ll be all the motivation the Gers players need ahead of the tie.

For their manager, this is a tie in a “beautiful stadium” with Jindřich Tripišovský claiming he is “excited and satisfied with the draw”.

“I am excited and satisfied with the draw. They are coached by a former great player and a great coach in Steven Gerrard who I have always admired,” said Tripišovský [Glasgow Times].

“In addition they have a beautiful stadium. I wanted us to draw another British team after beating Leicester City. We haven’t been to Scotland yet, so I’m extremely satisfied.”
