Rangers are reportedly interested in bringing Mirko Maric [Daily Record], but could a former teammate yet have an important role to play in any move?
The Croatian international striker is reportedly interesting Rangers after topping the HNL.1’s scoring charts with 18 goals this season.
Eros Grezda signed for Rangers at the beginning of the season and has really struggled. Much of the Albanian winger’s problems stem from injuries, but questions also have been raised over his attitude.

Rangers forked out a reported £2m for the player at the start of the season. But now he is one of three players who have reportedly “played their last game for Rangers” after atrocious performances in a closed doors friendly [
the Herald].
Should he be moved on in the summer, Rangers will be looking recoup close to the amount they spent on him. Grezda just hasn’t seemed to settle at Rangers, but his 13 caps for Albania suggest he must have something about him.
If the club can engineer a swap deal between the two players, it might suit all parties involved. Grezda came very highly rated from Osijek and had performed at a high level there.
A return to Croatia might help him stabilise his career and find his form again.
The move would also help Rangers get in Maric on the cheap. It would represent smart business by the club.
Unless of course, Eros Grezda remains in Steven Gerrard’s plans next season.
