Another Rangers win, another junior meltdown from the oracle of footballing wisdom that is Michael Stewart.
The former Hearts and Hibs midfielder really doesn’t like Rangers. He likes us even less when we manage to get a win.
Mid-seethe, we’ve seen Stewart breakdown over everything from biomechanics to biology. Never happy when Rangers pick up three points, he can’t seem to resist lashing out.
This week, he took aim at Gerrard. Between all the bluster and bull you get a feeling this is a man who’s upset at something else.
The whole thing concerns Gerrard saying Rangers “shouldn’t have to work that hard to win at places like this, with all due respect” after yesterday’s match with St. Johnstone.
The thing is, Gerrard isn’t wrong
Whilst perhaps a bit forward and unnecessary, it doesn’t make it any less true.
What’s crazy is that Gerrard actually had to come out and apologise after Stewart’s tweet. Even if he did insist the comments were taken out of context.
“Some of my quotes were taken out of context,” said Gerrard. “I didn’t mean to be disrespectful to St Johnstone or Tommy Wright. Some of my quotes were misunderstood or taken the wrong way, so I apologise for that.”

But why did he even respond to or humour Michael Stewart? The truth is, Rangers should be going to St. Johnstone and winning comfortably. In the same way Celtic should be. In the same way Man City should be away to Cardiff. The same way Real Madrid should be away to Alaves.
Any other notion is ridiculous. It’s not that they don’t need to work to win, but Rangers shouldn’t have made such hard work of the match.
But Stewart knows that. You get the feeling he’s trolling. Either that, or he’s just upset. And it’s not for the first time this season.
Imagine what he’ll be like if we only go and win the thing.
