Rangers fans have picked up on a naughty elbow and straight-armed strike from Celtic captain Scott Brown on Gers full-back Borna Barisic in the 2-0 win at Celtic Park.

The incident was by-and-large missed in the game, but it came immediately after Brown was left incensed when Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos caught him with a cheeky slap.

Rangers fans might’ve been nervous at the time and indulgent on the whistle, but it clearly upset the Celtic captain enough to full-on assault Borna Barisic.

Whilst the media campaign over Morelos has been minimal it’s hard to argue against the fact that this incident was incredibly fortuitous for Brown and probably deserves greater scrutiny.

The Celtic skipper knows how to get under the skin of opponents and is very smart about how he goes about it.

Rangers have bitten to his tactics before – and almost did again – but once again Brown has landed something on someone and gotten away with it.

Credit too has to go to Barisic who focuses on the football, doesn’t make a meal of it, and just gets on with the game.

The full-back also had the last laugh when Brown’s Celtic teammate Leigh Griffiths reacted to the player taking his time in the Celtic corner.

Rangers put in a commanding and tactically disciplined performance at Celtic Park to win 2-0 courtesy of a Connor Goldson double.

It sends the Ibrox side four points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership with the pressure now on Rangers to keep it up heading into the next international break.
