As Rangers crashed to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of St. Mirren, one player who wasn’t involved in proceedings was controversial Ibrox striker Alfredo Morelos.
The Colombian firebrand was serving the first of a two-match ban for violent conduct after lashing out at Dundee United defender Mark Connolly in last week’s 2-1 win at Tannadice.

As the Gers crashed to defeat in Paisley, Cedric Itten and eventually Jermain Defoe both fired blanks as Steven Gerrard’s side failed for a seventh consecutive time in the chase for a domestic trophy.
Morelos might not be in superb goalscoring form but his combative style and technical link-up play mean he has been a pivotal part of the Rangers side this season.
Despite calls for the club to drop the striker for the trip to St. Mirren prior to the ban, having the striker as at least an option from the bench would’ve been welcome in a tough tie in Paisley.
Instead, Morelos let himself, the club, his manager and his teammates down with yet another needless incident which sees him out of the side and Rangers out of sorts.
His absence from the match really shouldn’t have made such a massive difference – and he might not have started anyway – but this is a lethal weapon which was once again removed from the arsenal for a nonsense incident.
Whilst it wasn’t the crux of the reason why we lost at St. Mirren Park, it’s no coincidence that this happened at the same time.
This has got to be the last time Alfredo Morelos gets involved in any needless incidents like this and lets us down as a support because we are clearly a different team without him.

Rangers’ controversial striker might not have been involved against St. Mirren but we need him to make sure that he’s involved in a title race upon his return.
Whilst most Rangers fans accept Morelos was foolish in the incident with Connolly, the club’s supporters have an issue with a lack of consistency in retrospective action.
