Rangers have been very active in the transfer market this summer. However, they haven’t yet added an additional striker to the ranks, despite letting Kyle Lafferty, Ryan Hardie and Andrew Dallas leave Ibrox.
Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe are the only remaining senior strikers at the club, with resources looking a little thin on the ground.

One forward the club could have attempted to bring in was Lawrence Shankland.
The 23-year-old, who supports the Gers, was reportedly being tracked by both Old Firm clubs last season [Daily Star]. He scored a remarkable 34 goals in all competitions for Ayr United [
In the end, though, neither club moved and the player ended up at Dundee United.
Shankland nets four on league debut
He’s already set about proving last season was no flash in the pan and scored all four goals in a 4-1 victory over Inverness CT on Saturday. Including League Cup ties, that means Shankland now has six goals in his first five outings for his new club.

Most of his goals have come against sides in the second tier, but he did net nine minutes into the season opener against Hearts last month.
Shankland is clearly an accomplished natural finisher, and signing him would have entailed no financial risk whatsoever.
One thing’s for sure, if he keeps up this sort of form and the Gers decide they want to make a move down the line, he’s going to have a considerable price tag on his head.
