Lee McCulloch has heaped praise on new Dundee United recruit, Lawrence Shankland, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.
The 23-year-old forward who netted 50 goals across the last two league seasons for Ayr United, was a free agent this summer.

Several months back, both Old Firm clubs were reportedly tracking him with a view to a move [Daily Star]. At that stage, it looked as though a dream Ibrox switch was on the cards for the blue nose.
However, in the end, the Gers didn’t swoop in and he joined Dundee United.
He netted four times on his league debut against Inverness on Saturday, though, prompting us to suggest the club may have made a mistake in not snapping up the Glaswegian.
Shankland like Rangers legend McCoist
Lee McCulloch, who is currently an Assistant Head Coach at Tannadice, certainly seems impressed by what he’s seen so far.
“Shanks is a natural goalscorer,” said the ex-Rangers captain, as quoted by the Scottish Sun. “I don’t think you can really tell someone like that where to go.”
“Every single player in the world can probably improve though, so that’s what we’re trying to do both individually and collectively.”

Shankland may be unproven at Scottish Premiership level, but he’s been prolific in recent seasons and has started this one in similar vein.
McCulloch is clearly a fan and perhaps the forward is the man who will finally lead United back to the top flight after several failed attempts.
The Gers scouting department clearly weren’t convinced he would cut it at Ibrox, but with the third-choice striker spot currently lying vacant, it still looks an opportunity wasted.
