Shades of Tillman as Rangers line up Premier League heartbreak

After a summer of discontent at Rangers, Brighton loanee Abdallah Sima continues to buck the trend of the club’s stuttering signings.

The Gers’ fumbling forward line has come under huge scrutiny with striker pair Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers especially under the microscope.

With Brazilian striker Danilo also out with a fractured cheekbone, Abdallah Sima has stepped up to the Ibrox plate and has now scored in four consecutive matches.

Having netted a consolation against Aris Limassol on Europa League duties – the forward the only outfield player who got pass marks from the fans – Brighton loanee Abdallah Sima finished the week by neatly finishing against St Mirren.

It was a goal of growing confidence as Nicolas Raskin rolled it into the Senegalese forward before he cooly curled it into the bottom corner.

Brighton loanee Abdallah Sima impressing at Rangers

This was Abdallah Sima’s eighth Rangers strike since joining the club in the summer and as the rest of the Ibrox side’s signings come in for scrutiny, the attacker is fast becoming a fans’ favourite.

But for Rangers fans threatening to get attached to Abdallah Sima, the loan arrangement with Brighton has undeniable shades of Malik Tillman.

The Gers had the young Bayern hotshot on loan last season and after netting 12 goals in a disappointing campaign it really looked like we might be signing Malik Tillman in the summer.

But as things transpired – in a confusing and frustrating saga – Bayern wound up paying us some compensation, signing a new contract with the attacker, and farming him out on loan to PSV Eindhoven.

Whilst Rangers’ loan deal with Brighton for Abdallah Sima does not contain an option-to-buy which is “exclusive” in name only, the situations will remind Rangers fans of what happened with Malik.

As talented as Abdallah Sima is and even with the form he’s showing at the club, there appears no longevity for the forward at Rangers with the £7m striker destined to return to the Premier League.
