Reported Rangers target and Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam has revealed he’s undergone surgery ahead of the new season in a potential Ibrox red flag.
The 19-year-old England youth international spent last season on loan at QPR after being signed by then Loftus Road boss Michael Beale, who is now at Ibrox.
The Gers manager has already suggested that players he has previously worked with will be targeted this summer and Tim Iroegbunam has been linked to Rangers heading into the window.
But those reports have been dealt a blow by the fact the former West Bromwich Albion youth star underwent surgery a few weeks ago, near the end of his loan stint in London.

Tim Iroegbunam took to social media to announce the news and, as murmurs continue around Rangers, it will have a few waving a bit of a red flag heading into the new season.
Rangers’ campaign is one defined by injuries, with several of the club’s most influential players either hampered or completely ruled out during a dismal season.
Filip Helander, Tom Lawrence and Kemar Roofe represent high-earners who have barely kicked a ball, while Ridvan Yilmaz, Connor Goldson, Ben Davies, John Souttar, Ryan Jack, Steven Davis, Rabbi Matondo, Malik Tillman, Antonio Colak and Alfredo Morelos have all missed part of the season due to injury.
The situation has brought into question the effectiveness of the Rangers’ medical department, as well as the club’s recruitment, and the fact Iroegbunam is recovering from injury means any move might represent a big risk.
Having already played three times for the Aston Villa first team in the Premier League, it’s clear the midfielder is considered a talent.
But for Rangers fans who want to see difference-makers added to the squad, who can begin to contribute straight away, the situation around his surgery will have them a little nervous.
