Senior Rangers first-team pair Borna Barisic and John Lundstram are being tipped to leave Ibrox this summer by club legend Barry Ferguson.

The former Gers treble-winning captain was speaking to the GO Radio Football Show [24/07] as Michael Beale’s transfer business ramps up this summer with incoming and outgoings imminent.

And whilst Rangers legend Barry Ferguson expects the squad’s fringe stars to be moved on, the Ibrox hero also believes that John Lundstram, 29, and Borna Barisic, 30, could follow them out the door.

This comes with the Ibrox high earners both entering the final year of their current deals with the Glasgow club.

“They need to balance the books a wee bit, that is natural as they have brought a number of players,” said Barry Ferguson.

“Scott Wright we are waiting for that to be confirmed, I think Glen Kamara.

“Don’t be surprised if there’s another one that might raise a few eyebrows. Just somebody you might not expect as you have guys coming into the final year of their contracts, Borna Barisic, John Lundstram.

“You can’t allow them to run down the contracts. If Rangers, Michael Beale doesn’t want them to be there, if they are not willing to commit, Rangers need to cash in.

“You need to speak to them and I am sure those conversations have happened between Michael Beale and the players. I said about Colak, I liked his attitude and he scored goals but it was clear in my eyes he wasn’t Michael Beale’s type of player.

“It wasn’t a surprise to me. But I think you will see another one or two players going out the door you maybe wouldn’t have thought would be squad.”

The Barry Ferguson comments come despite John Lundstram not currently being linked out of Rangers as things stand, even if Borna Barisic has been extensively linked with Nottingham Forest.

Both players have substantial experience at Ibrox and boast over 300 combined appearances at the club, Borna Barisic having played 201 times and John Lundstram 100.

The links to Borna Barisic also come at a time when another key Rangers left-back is being linked with an Ibrox reunion out East.
