The next Scottish Cup final will be played with two weeks remaining of the Scottish domestic league season because of Euro 2020.
Traditionally the game is the final domestic game of the season. The Scottish Cup is seen as a showpiece event and the ideal way to wrap up a domestic campaign.
And it should return to that next season. But because Hampden is hosting matches for the European Championships, UEFA needs time to get the stadium ready.

The Scottish Cup final will now take place on May 9th, with the SPFL season culminating on May 24th. It’ll be especially interesting if there’s still a title race in the latter stages of the next campaign.
Euro 2020 kicks off in Rome’s Stadio Olimpico on June 12th. Hampden will host three group games – June 15th, 19
Scotland are currently up against it in Euro Qualifying group I, with the likes of Belgium, Russia and Kazakhstan ahead of them in the table.
All is not lost with a Nation’s League playoff to contend and plenty of time to go, but the country is staring at disappointment once again.
Still, even if Scotland don’t qualify, at least we’ll get to host some of Europe’s best players at Hampden!
