Former Celtic Captain Scott Brown clearly still has Rangers on the brain as the pain of that legendary 55th title win rankles with the salty ex-Parkhead skipper.

Scott Brown was the Parkhead captain during Rangers’ 20/21 title victory as the Ibrox side won their first title since 2011 and put an end to Celtic’s dubious and controversial claims for 10IAR.

Despite securing a title they did not technically win the previous season, the Parkhead side’s bottle crashed in the face of a rampant Rangers who went the season unbeaten and demolished all in their path.

Speaking on GO Radio, the now Fleetwood Town manager’s pain was delicious as he ragged on Rangers’ title victory by claiming the Ibrox side only flourished behind closed doors.

“Scotland’s top flight is relentless and especially here in Glasgow, Rangers, Celtic, it’s that relentlessness,” said Scott Brown.

“You need to make sure you keep winning and there are a lot of players that can’t do that. They are fantastic footballers but don’t understand what it takes to be a Celtic player.

“If you don’t win, there’s 60,000 on top of you and if you want 60,000 loving you, you have to thrive off that. A lot of players struggle with the pressure, and a lot of players, especially when Covid came, shall we say another team did really when there was no pressure. It’s a fantastic game up the road and a fantastic league.”

Rangers were relentless in the face of Covid and dealt with it better than Celtic, proving they had the better squad by demolishing everything in their path that season. That’s final.

Scott Brown can bleat and moan about the circumstances of the season but at the end of the day, for everything he won whilst Rangers were being rebuilt, he will be forever remembered as the Parkhead captain who blew the Ten.

It’s no surprise he lacks the class to congratulate Rangers on what was a comprehensive and absolute victory that season.

Forget the trebles, forget when they were hammering us, “the Ten” was the only title that mattered to them and Scott Brown and his teammates were blown away by Rangers at the final furlong.

The only regret we should have from any of it is that the Rangers board acted as arrogantly as the fans in the aftermath of the title victory and slept on Celtic’s rebuild.

Rangers have let the fans down over the 48 months by failing to evolve the squad and it’s cost the club big as Celtic spend close to £40m to overtake them.

Scott Brown can try put it down to supporters all he wants, but the reality is Celtic have just spent more whilst Rangers’ penny-pinching has finally caught up.
