Steven Clifford has revealed a behind-the-scenes moment between Rangers keeper Jack Butland and Scotland’s Scott McTominay.
McTominay has taken his career to the next level following his move from Manchester United to Napoli.
He even made the top 20 in the Ballon d’Or standings, showcasing just how much improvement he has shown since leaving Old Trafford.
How much can Rangers expect from Jack Butland’s sale?
He is now in the final year of his contract…
Scott McTominay makes joke about Rangers ace Jack Butland’s golfing skills
Clifford reacted to comments made about the Scotland players not doing media work for the World Cup and explained why it was wrong to criticise them for it.
He gave the example of McTominay, who, when he was at Manchester United, met his son and gave the young kid all the attention that he wanted.
The midfielder has been described as someone who was down to earth, and he even joked about Butland’s golfing ability.
Should Liam Kelly be the first-choice keeper for Rangers next season?
He has signed a two-year contract extension…
Via X, Clifford wrote: “Took my son to Naples in January. We met Scott McTominay and they say you shouldn’t meet your heroes; well, Scott lived up to the billing.
“Made it all about the wee fella, gave him a signed strip and was genuinely the nicest man. My young fella was made the centre of attention. Scott himself spoke away and was the most down-to-earth lad. Even laughed and joked about Jack Butland’s golf skills.
“You will see from my son’s face how happy he is.
“Talk of McTominay being some fake superstar is absolutely nonsense. The nicest and most pleasant guy you can meet.”
Butland has made interesting comments about England’s goalkeeping situation
Butland responded to Troy Deeney’s assertion that Jordan Pickford was the weak link in the England side at the World Cup.
The Everton star has been the mainstay in the team for a decade and could one day become the Three Lions’ highest-capped keeper.
Despite that, the former Watford striker stated that England could not win the World Cup with him as their starter.
Which pundit do Rangers fans dislike the most?
Some of them are terrible…
Butland, who has represented the Three Lions in the past, jumped to Pickford’s rescue.
He called Deeney’s comments nonsense and firmly stood by the 32-year-old, who’s already got a clean sheet at the World Cup.
The Gers keeper told talkSPORT: “I love Troy, but he does come out with some nonsense, doesn’t he? For me, it’s nonsense.
“You look at what Jordan’s done in an England shirt. I hope we go all the way, I hope we do it, and if we do, Jordan’s going to be a massive part of it.”
