Saudi Arabian club land Rangers-linked boss after Clement snub

Rangers managed to beat Al Shabab to Philippe Clement – and the Saudi Arabian side have now turned to Igor Biscan instead.

Rangers pulled out all the stops to secure Philippe Clement as the club’s new manager.

The Belgian emerged as the top target to replace Michael Beale following his sacking at the start of October.

Rangers managed to get the deal done, confirming Clement as the new Gers boss on a three-and-a-half-year contract on Sunday morning.

This was a coup for Rangers and a real relief given that Clement had interest elsewhere…

Philippe Clement rejected Saudi Arabia move

Clement was unsurprisingly a very appealing coach on the market.

Three titles wins in a row over in Belgium, as well as third and sixth-place finishes at Monaco – Clement has done well in recent years.

Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad claimed earlier this week that Clement did have an offer on the table from elsewhere.

Al Shabab missed out on Clement but have now appointed their new boss having parted ways with Marcel Keizer in September.

Remarkably, it’s another Rangers-linked manager taking the job.

Al Shabab have confirmed the appointment of former Croatia international and Premier League midfielder Igor Biscan.

This comes just days after The Sun reported that Biscan had been on the shortlist for the Rangers job having left Dinamo Zagreb.

Biscan has impressed in his managerial career and Rangers seemingly considered him before going for Clement.

That was a sliding doors moment; Biscan missed out on Rangers to Clement, but has now landed the Al Shabab job instead of the Belgian.
