When it comes to Ryan Jack vs Aberdeen, it’s been a story of mixed results for the Rangers midfielder.
Arriving last season and leaving a lot of angry Dons fans behind, Jack has made the transition from Pittodrie to Ibrox look easy. The Pedro Caixinha signing has looked the part whenever he’s had his chance in Light Blue.
Yet, his time at Ibrox has also been plagued by injury concerns. These injuries meant that he missed two of four meetings with the Dons last season. He was also sent off in one of the others as he struggled to seriously make his mark against his old side.

Jack did have an extremely impressive display in the 3-0 win over Aberdeen at Ibrox back in November 2017. Since then, however, he’s yet to really get another one over a fan-base who can’t stand him these days.
Aberdeen’s trips to Hampden mean so much to them. For a club starved of success for many years, Derek McInnes deserves huge credit for getting them to yet another semi-final. Outside of Celtic, no club has been to Hampden more over the last few years.
Huge credit
Therefore, it would be one of Jack’s most satisfying moments if he could boss today’s game and sink the Dons. Despite the fact Aberdeen have yet to beat Rangers since he moved to Ibrox, you still feel he has something to prove against them.
He did feature in the 1-1 draw at Pittodrie which Rangers bossed at the start of the season. Despite putting in an impressive performance, that game was remembered for Bruce Anderson’s last-minute equaliser more than anything else.
Therefore, Jack will feel he still has a big display to give against the Dons. With Aberdeen finishing above Rangers last season, he’s yet to fully show that his move was justified. Whilst we all know Rangers are a bigger club than Aberdeen and that it was the correct move, Jack has still to show that to Aberdeen fans.

This Sunday provides him his big opportunity to do that. Silly red cards and fluky draws will be forgotten about if Jack and his teammates see off the Dons today.
The Gers midfielder has yet to taste trophy success with Ibrox. He did win the League Cup with Aberdeen back in 2014, but hasn’t held silverware since.
For Jack, today presents a chance to tick two boxes. Reach his first final with Rangers and finally get one over Aberdeen.
