Ryan Jack snapped back in training after knee scare

Rangers have been provided with a timely injury boost as Ryan Jack returned to training yesterday.

The club posted images of their squad putting in the hard yards at the Hummel Training Centre on their official website. Jack was at the centre of it, showing that his knee injury may have fully recovered.

The former Aberdeen captain had to drop out of the Scotland squad with his knee complaint. It robbed him of the big opportunity to play a part in Scotland’s Nations League success.

Such was the surprising nature of the call-off considering Scotland’s big fixtures, it led to fears over the injury itself. Fortunately, however, it appears that Jack is back in training.

Rangers are going to need as many of their squad fit as possible ahead of a crucial December. Mammoth clashes against Hibernian, Hearts, and Celtic will mean a hectic card is jam-packed with must-win fixtures.

There’s going to be some bumps along the way, but having Jack back fit is a huge bonus. He’s been one of Rangers’ most consistent players in the engine room, and his return signals more competition in the midfield.

Other boosts

Of course, there were also a couple of other boosts for supporters to take from the images, which you can view here.

The likes of Gareth McAuley, Jordan Rossiter, and Ross McCrorie were all snapped taking part in training too. Fitness doubts over the former two have been raised in recent weeks, but they looked ready to go at Rangers’ training base. McCrorie may have been frozen out recently, but Gerrard has acknowledged his hard work and he looks determined to impress.

Another cause for concern can be wiped away with young Glenn Middleton also taking part in training. The youngster is Rangers’ only available left-winger with Ryan Kent and Jamie Murphy both sidelined. After only appearing in one of Scotland Under-19’s three Euro 2019 qualification matches, there was a slight concern he may have picked up a knock.

Fortunately, however, that doesn’t appear to be the case.

Even Umar Sadiq was all smiles at training as morale appears to be high throughout the squad. It’s going to have to be ahead of a colossal month.
