It was a proud day for this youngster as Ross McCrorie captained Scotland Under-21s to a huge success against the Netherlands.
A Fraser Hornby double ensured the young Scots saw off the Dutch in Doetinchem yesterday. The victory keeps alive hopes of qualifying for Euro 2019.

It was McCrorie’s second match as captain of the under-21 side, and it simply couldn’t have gone any better. Leading from the engine room, McCrorie put in a dominant display as a dramatic double from Hornby secured a huge win.
Over the last week, McCrorie has been speaking about how he looked up to former skipper Lee Wallace. The full-back had an apparent huge effect on the Gers youngster, and McCrorie certainly led by example on Tuesday.
Lack of game-time
The Rangers midfielder has struggled for game-time under Steven Gerrard so far, but it’s not having a negative effect on his international career. It was also extremely pleasing to see how sharp McCrorie looked against the Dutch.
He only adds to Rangers’ plethora of midfield options, and must be given some form of game-time this season. McCrorie could’ve perhaps left the club on loan during the close-season, but he’s still well liked by those at Ibrox.

Regardless, he’s got a big task trying to displace Ovie Ejaria, Lassana Coulibaly, and Scott Arfield. The Rangers midfield haven’t been impressing on the goals front, but they’re still getting results. The likes of Ejaria and Coulibaly are extremely impressive acquisitions, and have pushed McCrorie down the pecking order.
Fellow Rangers starlet Robbie McCrorie also put in a sterling performance in goals. The Rangers youth star is Scotland’s number one goalkeeper at international level. He never let his side down, producing a stunning variety of stops to keep the Scots on track.
The two McCrories, who are brothers, join the batch of other Gers stars to have represented their countries over the last week.
