Rangers are battling it out with five Championship clubs over a loan move for £12m Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy, according to a combination of reports.
The Ibrox side were linked with a move for the 25-year-old winger – whom Newcastle purchased from Norwich for the exorbitant fee back in 2017 – by the Daily Record.

According to TEAMtalk, Nottingham Forest, Derby County, Stoke City, Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday are interested in the player.
Murphy impressed during a loan spell at Hillsborough last season and the Owls are believed to want him to return to Sheffield this season.
Rangers’ interest in the player is said to depend on whether or not the club can shift out players in the background at Ibrox such as Jamie Murphy, Jordan Jones and Greg Stewart.
At 25 Murphy has still plenty of years ahead of him but has been unable to breakthrough into the Newcastle first team on a consistent basis since moving to St. James’ Park.
Murphy has been limited to only 41 appearances since signing under Rafael Benítez three years ago and has spent the last 18 months out on loan.
Murphy joined West Bromwich Albion on loan in January 2019, scoring twice in 15 appearances in the Hawthorns.

The winger spent last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, netting nine times and laying on six assists in 44 appearances for the Owls.
Rangers have made six signings already this season, with Ianis Hagi, Jon McLaughlin, Calvin Bassey and Leon Balogun being joined by striker duo Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten.
