Philippe Clement closing in on Rangers job
Belgian boss Philippe Clement has been a prominent name in the rumour mill ever since The Telegraph mentioned him on October 3rd.
90Min reporter Graeme Bailey has now suggested on social media that Clement is ‘set to become the new Rangers manager’.
Bailey notes that he is being told that a deal is close with Clement now the clear favourite for the job.
Sky Sports had reported that Clement and Kevin Muscat were in a straight fight with ‘final talks’ being held this week.
Despite Muscat having a link to Rangers from his playing days, it looks like Clement has pipped the Yokohama F. Marinos boss to the Ibrox hot seat.
Rangers appointment now expected within 48 hours
Rangers appear to be close to naming the new boss with the Clement rumours accelerating overnight.
The Daily Record suggest that Rangers will now name Beale’s replacement inside 48 hours.
The Gers hierarchy are seemingly confident of having a deal in place with an announcement now expected by close of play on Monday.
Clement being out of work certainly adds to that notion; a deal to get Muscat out of Japan may be a little more complex.
Sacked by Monaco at the end of last season, Clement looks set to snub interest from Saudi Arabia in order to take the Rangers reins instead.
