Reportedly long-term admirers of Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos have had a £20m bid accepted for Bournemouth striker and England international Callum Wilson.
According to Sky Sports, the 28-year-old striker will now discuss personal terms with the St. James’ Park club.
The report claims Aston Villa pulled their £21m offer once they found out Wilson’s preference is a move to Tyneside with the Magpies.
Any deal to sign Wilson would surely signal an end to the reported interest Newcastle United hold in Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos.
The Rangers striker was first linked to the Toon last summer by local paper the Chronicle and links have persisted over the course of the last year.
The same newspaper then described Morelos as a Newcastle “target” as early as June this year with Steve Bruce’s side seemingly desperate to fill their striker void.
Should a deal for Wilson now go through, Newcastle will have Andy Carroll, £40m man Joelinton, Dwight Gayle, Yoshinori Muto, and the former Coventry man as forward options.
Rangers striker Morelos continues to be the source of much transfer talk amid Lille’s much-publicised interest in the player during the transfer window.
The Gers rejected a reported £16.25m [Daily Mail] from the Ligue 1 club for the striker but their club president has left the door open for a return with Rangers holding out for £20m.
Portuguese side Porto have also been linked to the player with German sides Bayer Leverkusen and Stuttgart also linked to the Colombian striker.
