Earlier this month, a Scottish Sun report claimed that Rangers were interested in securing the services of Karlan Grant.
The striker currently sits fourth in the League One goal scoring charts, with 14.
His performances have been eye-catching throughout the season and it was reported that Rangers sent a scout to watch him play for Charlton against Accrington Stanley.

Grant scored the winner in the game.
By tucking away an injury time penalty, he demonstrated his composure under pressure.
Having said that, he cost his side points at the weekend, by having a spot kick saved away at Peterborough.

Regardless, it emerged on Wednesday morning, that the striker will not be coming to Ibrox after all.
Instead, his destination is the Premier League.

“He’s a natural goalscorer. He offers us something different to our current options”, manager, Jan Siewart, told the Terriers’ website.
“He’s an athletic, pacy player and will really fit our playing style. He can play a big part in this club’s present and future.”

Is this a blow for Rangers?

Clearly, Grant is an exciting talent.
Yet, with the arrival of Jermain Defoe, there is no immediate need for more strikers at the club.
Should Alfredo Morelos leave Ibrox in the summer, though, there will be a big void to fill.
Now, though, we’ll never know if Grant would have been up to that challenge.
