Rangers have been linked with a move for Kenyan defender Joseph Okumu this summer and the Elfsborg centre-half has broken his silence regarding his future.
The Gers are one of a number of clubs reportedly tailing the 23-year-old who has impressed with the Swedish Allsvenskan side over the last two seasons.
The entire thing appears to revolve around the future of Gers defender Filip Helander, with a Swedish newspaper claiming the big defender is being tailed by Premier League clubs.
Sport Bladet claims that Aston Villa and Leicester City are tailing the ex-Bologna centre-half, 27, who has enjoyed an impressive spell in Glasgow over the last two seasons.
Okumu has been sounded out as a potential replacement and the defender is keeping his cards close to his chest, even if Sport Bladet claim the Kenyan was subject to a bid of around £2m from an unnamed club in January.
“It’s not just about what one side wants, it’s about the bigger picture,” said Okumu [Fotball Transfers].
“When the time is right, I am sure that I will move on and there will be a mutual agreement between me and Elfsborg. If it’s not the right time, then I’ll stay.”
“I can not say any specific country or league. It all depends on which bids come, and it is only then that I will have to decide what suits my playing style best. I hope to play in one of the top 5 leagues in Europe.”
Rangers defender Helander has proven himself a talented player at domestic and European level and he continues to impress on the international stage too.
The big Swede has kept two clean sheets in a row for his country as they kick off their World Cup Qualifying campaign on the front foot.
