Reported summer Rangers target Andreas Skov Olsen came on as a second-half substitute as Bologna were defeated 2-0 by AC Milan in Serie A.
The young Danish wonderkid was linked to Ibrox earlier in the window after struggling to settle in Italy following a £5.4m (€6m) move to the country from FC Nordsjælland last season.
But in Bologna’s season opener in Italy’s fashion capital the young Dane, 20, got around 30 minutes to impress as speculation persists over his future.
The Rossoblù fell to the Rossoneri as legendary forward Zlatan Ibrahimović showed his class with a goal in either half to secure the points for Milan as Bologna were reduced to 10 men.
According to reports in Italy, Rangers had a bid rejected for the young winger earlier in the transfer window.
Gazzetta dello Sport reported, via Sport Witness, that the Gers launched a loan bid for the 20-year-old which was knocked by the Italians.
The newspaper clipping used by Sport Witness claims that the Gers will need to make Bologna an “offer you can’t refuse” for the former FC Nordsjælland talent.
It is said that Rangers were rivalling FC Copenhagen in Skov Olsen’s native Denmark for the player’s signature but that Bologna are unwilling to sell the player on loan.
Skov Olsen made 26 Serie A appearances last season – 19 of those from the bench – as La Dotta finished 12th in the Italian top tier.
A highly-rated young Danish talent, Skov Olsen has made 16 caps for the Denmark U21s, scoring eight goals.
The youngster can play across the three behind the striker and would provide competition to the likes of Ianis Hagi, Ryan Kent and Joe Aribo.
