Report: Rangers target now offered £15k-a-week deal by Fenerbahce

Rangers face a battle with Fenerbahce for Jose Cifuentes after they made an offer for the LAFC midfielder.

The Gers have been linked with a move to sign Cifuentes this summer as Michael Beale chases new additions.

MLS insider Tom Bogert broke the rumour in April, claiming that Rangers were interested in signing Cifuentes.

Bogert suggested that Rangers were battling Leeds United and Espanyol for the LAFC midfielder.

This seemed like an exciting move; a talented midfielder with some untapped potential at 24 whilst having international football under his belt.

Rangers fans had to temper their expectations as Football Insider suggested that whilst contact had been made, a move to Ibrox was considered unlikely.

There was a feeling that Cifuentes would be heading to the Premier League at the need of the season.

However, it may end up being Turkey for Cifuentes as the race for his signature heats up…

Fenerbahce attempt to pounce for Jose Cifuentes

Bolavip over in South America now report that Fenerbahce have made a ‘formal offer’ to try and sign Cifuentes.

It’s claimed that Fenerbahce have offered Cifuentes a deal worth around $1million-a-year – which works out to around £15,000-a-week.

Cifuentes is out of contract in December, meaning he can actually sign a pre-contract agreement this summer.

Alternatively, LAFC could cash in for a bargain fee before Cifuentes moves on for nothing.

Fenerbahce already have an Ecuador international in Enner Valencia and may now look for Cifuentes to join him.

That could really appeal to the midfielder, with Rangers’ hopes of signing him looking a little slim as things stand.

There is even a chance that Ryan Kent ends up leaving Rangers for Fenerbahce this summer, with the Turkish giants now getting involved in a couple of Gers rumours.
