Rangers are showing a keen interest in signing Chicago Fire midfielder Brian Gutierrez with Manchester United pursuing him.
That is according to the Daily Mail, who report that Rangers have been taking note of Gutierrez and his development in the United States.
It’s stated that Manchester United have also been showing an interest in snapping up Gutierrez.
A work permit to play in England is thought to be a touch problematic though, which could lead to a move elsewhere.
Borussia Dortmund, Red Bull Leipzig and Girona are also interested in Gutierrez, meaning there is quite a race for his signature emerging.
Who is Rangers target Brian Gutierrez?
Gutierrez hails from Illinois and has come up through the Chicago Fire ranks and is now a first-team player.
The 19-year-old has made a big impact in midfield, even being hailed as ‘incredible’ by head coach Frank Klopas.
Gutierrez has now played 71 MLS games, bagging two goals and nine assists for Chicago Fire.
An attack-minded midfielder who has also played out wide, Gutierrez is considered to be one of the top young talents in American ‘soccer’.

American influence could emerge at Rangers
Rangers could have a real American influence moving forward.
LAFC midfielder Jose Cifuentes looks set to join the club this summer having impressed in Major League Soccer.
Gutierrez could yet follow and there is even interest in American talents too.
Arsenal defender Auston Trusty has been linked this summer as Michael Beale chases a new left-footed centre back.
Antalyaspor striker Haji Wright – who scored for the United States at the World Cup – is also being heavily linked with Rangers.
From MLS talents to USA internationals, Rangers may well have an increased American influence under Beale.
