Rangers are in talks to sign striker Cyriel Dessers this summer after Cremonese rejected their opening offer.
That is according to the Daily Record, who claim that Rangers have submitted a ‘significant’ seven-figure bid for Dessers.
However, Cremonese have rejected the offer as they seek a higher fee.
It’s stated that Cremonese want to recoup most of the £6million they paid to sign Dessers from Genk last summer.
Yet having suffered relegation from Serie A, Cremonese may not be in the best position to demand that kind of money.
Rangers haven’t backed away after failing with that opening bid and are still in talks to sign the Cremonese striker.
Dessers has allegedly been on Rangers’ radar for a while now and Michael Beale is understood to be pushing for a deal to be done.
This one may take some lengthy negotiations given Cremonese’s stance but Rangers will hope to get the move over the line.

Who is Rangers target Cyriel Dessers?
Dessers was born in Belgium and came through at OH Leuven before moving to Lokeren.
The 28-year-old got his big break in the Netherlands though, smashing 29 goals in 40 games for NAC Breda.
The goals kept coming with 19 in 56 games at FC Utrecht as well as 18 in 29 for Heracles Almelo.
Dessers was superb in the Netherlands but chose to return to Belgium in 2020, joining Genk.
That move didn’t go quite so well as Dessers managed 11 goals in 43 games, resulting in a loan move to Feyenoord for the 2021-22 season.
Dessers became something of a cult hero at De Kuip even though a record of nine goals in 27 league games doesn’t look that great.
Dessers did most of his damage in Europe though, scoring 10 goals to help Feyenoord reach the Europa Conference League final.
That made Dessers the top scorer in the competition, even ahead of Roma hitman Tammy Abraham.
Hailed as a ‘really good striker’ by Feyenoord icon Pierre van Hooijdonk, Dessers made a big impact and scored some huge goals.
Feyenoord couldn’t pull off a permanent move and Dessers headed to Italy, scoring just seven times in 26 games for Cremonese.
Dessers is also a Nigerian international, meaning he is a teammate of former Rangers duo Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo.
Dessers has been through some ups and downs in his career but he was impressive inside the box for Feyenoord and could be the goalscorer Beale desperately wants.
