Rumours linking former Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty with a return to Scotland with Dundee have been rubbished in the press.

The Northern Irish forward was rumoured to be interesting Championship Dundee after his contract at Italian Serie B side Reggina was terminated by mutual consent.

Rumours have spread on social media this week that both Lafferty and ex-Celtic midfielder Joe Ledley could move to Dens Park in the window but those have since been rubbished.

Not the Old Firm is claiming that the ex-Rangers striker won’t be moving to Dundee – at least this January – with the Dark Blues already moving for ex-Gers striker Jason Cummings.

Dundee have also signed Tottenham Hotspur prospect Malachi Fagan-Walcott and they will not be moving for anyone else as it stands.

Journeyman striker Lafferty has played across Europe in his career turning out down south, in Switzerland, in Italy, in Turkey and even in Norway.

But now he is looking to secure a new contract elsewhere and whilst that may well be in Scotland in the not-so-distant future it will not be with Dundee.

Lafferty, 33, has had spells with Sarpsborg 08, Sunderland and Reggina since leaving Ibrox in 2019 after an unsuccessful second spell with the club.

Whilst Lafferty won’t be moving to Dens Park, here’s more about Jason Cumming’s return to Scotland as he leaves Shrewsbury to sign with James McPake’s side.
