A Daily Record report has claimed Rangers are set for a major boost ahead of Sunday’s League Cup Final against Celtic.

It’s suggested that first-choice left-back, Borna Barisic, is likely to be fit enough to play, following treatment on a foot injury.

However, this latest report claims that the Gers medical staff are confident he will be able to play a full part in the contest and to continue playing with the injury up until the winter break.

It’s said that a definitive call won’t be made until the weekend, but that it’s ‘almost certain’ he will start.

Rangers star Barisic set to face Celtic – Verdict

This is a major boost for the Gers with a massive opportunity to win silverware looming.

After a tough first season at Ibrox where the defender suffered from injuries and a lack of confidence, he’s really come into his own during the second half of 2019, starting a remarkable 16 games on the bounce before missing out at Pittodrie.

His influence on this Rangers team both in attack and defence is huge and his absence was keenly felt in midweek.

Neither Jon Flanagan or Andy Halliday offer anything close to what a firing Barisic does, and with Ryan Kent also on the left, Rangers will feel they can get at Celtic down that flank.
