Rangers will be taking a slice of the pie as Aberdeen prepare to sell Ross McCrorie to Bristol City this summer.
McCrorie rose up through the Rangers ranks and became a first-team regular under Steven Gerrard.
Gerrard gave McCrorie a big billing during their time together at Ibrox, backing him as a potential Rangers captain down the line.
Rangers tried to make a leap forward in the 2019-20 season though and loaned McCrorie to Portsmouth in order to play regularly.
By the time McCrorie came back to Ibrox, he had decided he liked regular first-team action and chose to pursue it away from Rangers.
Aberdeen struck a loan deal with an obligation to buy for £350,000, and the 25-year-old has become an important player at Pittodrie.
Rangers may have sold McCrorie a little cheap though as the utility man is on the verge of a big transfer…

Rangers to claim slice of £3m Ross McCrorie deal
The Daily Record claim that Aberdeen have now agreed a deal to sell McCrorie to England side Bristol City.
The deal is thought to be around £2million rising to £3million with add-ons and a move is close.
McCrorie will travel down to Bristol to finalise terms and undergo a medical this week.
A number of other Championship clubs wanted McCrorie but it’s Bristol City who will win the race.
That £3million fee is almost 10 times what Rangers sold him for, which stings a little.
The upside for Rangers is that a sell-on clause was inserted into McCrorie’s exit, meaning they will receive part of the fee now.
McCrorie may never have developed to this level at Rangers given the battle for first-team minutes at Ibrox.
It’s nice to see a former Rangers talent thriving though and whilst Rangers won’t be receiving millions for him, they will at least get a small fee.
