Rangers want Josh Maja but Bordeaux could end up activating a clause to block a bargain move to Ibrox this summer.
Maja’s name just won’t go away from the Rangers rumour mill.
Fans may remember Get French Football News reporting in 2020 that Rangers were planning talks to sign Maja.
No deal was done back then but Rangers are allegedly still interested.
Football lnsider suggested earlier in March that Maja is a top target for Rangers this summer.
Michael Beale certainly wants a new striker and some may wonder if he has already hinted that Maja is his man.

Speaking to the Daily Record in February, Beale noted that there is a striker he wants but they weren’t available in January and would be come the summer.
Maja would fit the criteria given that how contract with promotion-chasing Bordeaux ends this summer.

Bordeaux could block Josh Maja to Rangers
There could be a problem on the horizon for Rangers though.
Football Insider now report that Bordeaux have a clause to extend Maja’s deal – if they win promotion.
Should Bordeaux return to Ligue 1, they can seemingly add another year onto Maja’s contract and then demand a fee.
Bordeaux currently sit second in Ligue 2, seven points behind league leaders Le Havre.
That means Bordeaux currently sit in an automatic promotion spot, but are just one point ahead of third-placed Sochaux.
Their promotion hopes could change in an instant but as things stand, Bordeaux could effectively block off Rangers’ attempts to sign Maja for free.
Maja, 24, has been in great form with 12 goals in 28 league games this season.
The Nigerian international could have given Rangers another goalscoring option but there is a chance he ends up staying in France after all.
