Rangers only made one bid for Preston North End midfielder Daniel Johnson this summer which amounted to £1.5m which the Ibrox club wanted to pay in stages.
That’s according to Lancashire Live, who claim that the Gers only submitted one offer for PNE’s Player of the Season despite the swathes of reports linking the Jamaican to Ibrox.

That amount is believed to have been only half of Preston’s asking price, with reports claiming the Lilywhites wanted £3m for their star player despite the player being in the final few months of hs contract.
Rangers were first linked with a move for Johnson when local journalists claimed the Ibrox club had made an approach for the midfield player.
This was then backed up by fan media who reported that the player was set to move to Ibrox after the sides had negotiated a fee between £2.5m and £3m [Deepdale Digest].
But this was eventually rubbished by the Lancashire Post who claimed that Preston had knocked back Rangers’ approach, which was said to be below £2m.
Preston themselves would then release a statement damning the suggestion that they’d accepted bids for any of their players with the Deepdale side holding firm on their valuations.

Rangers would turn their attentions back to Amiens midfielder Bongani Zungu not long after negotiations collapsed with Preston over Johnson.
The South African international had reportedly been a Rangers target since July but signed on a loan-to-buy deal on deadline day of the summer transfer window.
