In a big boost for Rangers fans, a report has claimed that Alfredo Morelos will be available to face Alashkert and Celtic despite a Covid outbreak at the club [Daily Record].

Rangers confirmed in a statement on Tuesday evening that positives were returned during the group’s latest round of testing.

It was added that those who had tested positive were now isolating, as are those who have been identified as ‘close contacts’.

Those isolating will miss the two big upcoming matches but it’s not yet known how significant a blow the outbreak is, as the identities of the players involved haven’t been revealed.

Clearly, some players are more integral to the team than others and in a big boost for Bears, the Daily Record reports that Ibrox talisman Alfredo Morelos isn’t one of those affected.

Morelos tested positive earlier this summer whilst away on international duty with Colombia and he later had to quarantine upon his return to the UK, so it would have been a cruel blow if he had been forced out of action once again.

However, it’s asserted that he was spotted en route to the Rangers Training Centre on Wednesday morning, ahead of the squad’s flight to the Armenian capital, Yerevan.

If he can get through the Gers’ Europa League playoff second leg, he’ll no doubt lead the line once again against the Hoops on Sunday.

The 25-year-old already has three goals to his name this season – with one coming in the first leg against Alashkert – and is now only three away from 100 for the club.

Meanwhile, Rangers’ Champions League conquerors have secured a major financial boost, rubbing salt into the Gers’ wound.
