Referee confirmed for Rangers vs Motherwell league clash

Nick Walsh has been named as the referee for Rangers’ important Premiership fixture against Motherwell at Fir Park on Sunday [].

The Gers are looking to get back to winning ways in the league after dropping more points at home to Aberdeen on Wednesday night.

The champions still lead the way but their advantage has been cut to two points.

Motherwell drew 2-2 with St Mirren last time out and they currently sit nine points back in sixth.

Sunday’s 12pm kick-off will be the 24th time Walsh has taken charge of the Gers and their record when he officiates is exceptional.

From 23 matches to date, the Light Blues have won 19, drawn three and lost only once [Transfermarkt].

The 30-year-old is yet to send off a Rangers star but he has sent off four opposition players, while he’s awarded three penalties to the Gers and only one to their opponents.

Before the conspiracy theories start flying around, though, Celtic have a similarly strong record when Walsh is in charge.

The other half of the Old Firm have won 15 of the 19 games he’s taken charge of, also only losing once.

They have also been awarded more penalties [Transfermarkt].

Motherwell have a very mixed record when Walsh is in charge. They’ve won eight times and lost eight times, drawing the other three matches.

Meanwhile, a Rangers player deserves more backing from the support as heavy criticism continues.
