Jermain Defoe has posted on Twitter stating his intention to stay at Ibrox next season.
The England international is effectively a third of the way into an 18-month loan deal from AFC Bournemouth. However, his future remains both uncertain and out of his hands.

His parent club have a clause in the deal which ensures they can recall their man either this summer or in January 2019.
Early last month, Cherries boss Eddie Howe
told the Daily Echo he would wait until the end of the season to make a call on Defoe’s future. He stated he was happy with how the Ibrox stint was working out for the 36-year-old but stressed he wouldn’t be rushed into a decision.
Defoe couldn’t be any clearer with his wishes, though. His Twitter post made it obvious he’s already looking beyond this summer and to potential success under Gerrard.

If anyone had doubts about whether or not Defoe was worth keeping, the last few weeks should have answered them.
He’s scored three in his last five outings, including the winner against Hibernian on Sunday. It speaks volumes that his performances were enough to keep 29-goal Alfredo Morelos out of the side, too.

Therefore, it’s undoubtedly great news that the celebrated forward wants to continue with Rangers.
Let’s just hope Howe and Bournemouth don’t put a spanner in the works.
