Rangers have now been branded “pathetic” by Chris Sutton after a “really damaging” announcement was made.
What Chris Sutton said about Rangers
Well, it has now been revealed that away fans will not be allowed to attend either of the remaining Old Firm clashes in the Scottish Premiership this season.
The Herald believe that both Rangers and Celtic mutually came to the decision due to concerns over safety, as they attempt to figure out a long-term solution.
However – according to the Daily Record – it is Rangers who are the ones refusing to budge, with Celtic keen to allow the maximum amount of away supporters to attend Old Firm clashes once again.
In response to that story, Sutton wrote on Twitter: “Really damaging this is for the profile of the Scottish game. Everyone knows who needs to move on this and how it can be resolved. You have to ask why Rangers won’t budge?? It’s pathetic!”
Sutton appears to be trying to wind Rangers supporters up, and painting the Gers out as the main villains.
In truth, both sides are responsible for away allocations being stripped back in recent years, with the Herald mentioning that elderly and disabled Rangers fans were struck by missiles thrown by Celtic supporters in the 1-1 draw at Parkhead back in May 2022.
Old Firm needs a full house
Putting Sutton’s inflammatory comments aside for a moment, it is imperative that the Old Firm sees a full house in attendance once again for the sake of the historic fixture.

It is simply not the same without thousands in the away section, and overall, it makes for a lesser spectacle – even with 800 away supporters in attendance, the atmosphere is negatively affected.
The sooner this issue is put to bed, the better – or else Scottish football as a whole will suffer.
