According to a Daily Record report, Rangers Academy coach Peter Lovenkrands is a candidate for the vacant Kilmarnock manager’s job.
The Ayrshire club sacked Angelo Alessio earlier this week after a poor run of form and have begun their search for a successor.

It’s thought that the decision won’t be rushed, though, with the board content with interim boss, Alex Dyer, taking charge of the remaining three Premiership fixtures before the winter break.
Lovenkrands currently works alongside Graeme Murty with the Rangers Colts and Development squads, playing a big part in the run to the semi-final of the Challenge Cup.
Verdict
This would be a real surprise appointment from Killie considering Lovenkrands has no direct managerial experience. He retired from playing in 2014 and joined the Gers Academy setup in 2017 with his current role his biggest to date.

However, it’s not the first time he’s been linked with becoming the main man with a senior side.
FC Nordsjaelland reportedly wanted him back in February [Daily Record], but he opted to stay with the Gers to continue working with the club’s youth players.
While Lovenkrands has plenty of experience of the Scottish game having spent six years of his playing career at Ibrox, he’s just two years into his coaching career and this would constitute a high-risk move.
