Rangers youngster Robby McCrorie is set for a return to Scottish Premiership Livingston after signing a contract extension at Ibrox, according to the Scottish Sun.

The talented young Scottish keeper spent a brief spell at the Tony Macaroni last season and impressed before the coronavirus shut down.

Having also spent loan spells at Berwick Rangers, Greenock Morton and Queen of the South, Rangers are eager to continue Robby’s development at a higher level.

Rangers were delighted to announce Robby’s contract extension last week which will keep him at Ibrox until 2023.

Ibrox goalkeeping coach Colin Stewart has talked up the impact of loan moves on the 22-year-old’s development and believes he has a bright future in Govan.

“Robby has progressed season-by-season as he has risen through the ranks of our Academy into the first-team set up. He has enjoyed several successful loan spells which have played a key role in his development,” said Stewart [Rangers].

“Each loan spell has allowed him to develop his physical and mental strength as he has faced every challenge set before him with determination and hard work.

“He has a very bright future and will continue to develop into a top quality ‘keeper.

“His experience at under-age international level has assisted in his progress and I am very excited to see him grow from strength to strength in the incoming years.

“We are working on the next stage in Robby’s development plan now that his contract has been extended.

“It is our strong desire that he continues to experience top level games in the incoming season.”

After showing what he could do in that brief spell with Livingston last season a return to the Tony Macaroni and West Lothian would provide McCrorie with the perfect opportunity to develop his game.
