Highly-rated Rangers youngster Kai Kennedy has spoken passionately about making his senior debut at Ibrox against Stranraer, on the Rangers Youth Development Company Twitter.

The 17-year-old is one of Academy’s brightest talents, playing a big role in Alkass Cup and Scottish Youth Cup wins last season.

Performances in those competitions and at Colts level this season, as well as impressive efforts during the mid-season camp in Dubai, earned him an opportunity in the Scottish Cup Fourth Round.

He replaced Joe Aribo with 10 minutes remaining and showed some nice touches as the Gers saw out a comfortable 2-0 win.

When taking part in a Twitter Q+A for the Rangers Youth Development Company on Thursday afternoon, he fielded several questions about his debut and his passion was clear to see in his responses.

“It was just the excitement of getting on vs Stranraer,” he wrote in response to one question. “It was like a dream, it didn’t seem real. But it was fantastic to make my debut.”

To another, he replied: “It was unbelievable to get on in front of the Rangers fans. The biggest game I have played in so far. I just need to keep doing what I am doing and keep learning from the players and coaches here. If I get my chance again hopefully I can take it.”

Bears are sure to love a young homegrown talent expressing such joy at his first senior appearance, and many will be hoping he has many more outings in him.

Competition for places is fierce at the moment after many new signings in recent seasons in the quest to bring major silverware back to Ibrox.

However, Kennedy has had a glimpse of what it takes and will no doubt be working hard in the background.

The tricky winger played in a 1-1 draw with Celtic in the City of Glasgow Cup earlier in the week and has Youth Cup action and a Challenge Cup semi-final to look forward to over the coming months.
