Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has reiterated claims from Dave King that the club wouldn’t entertain offers of £40m for Alfredo Morelos [Scottish Sun] – even suggesting another ten wouldn’t make him flinch.

That’s how central the Glasgow club believe the feisty Colombian is to their title charge with any notion that money can replace silverware shot down by the club’s hierarchy.

Rangers have a real chance to secure 55 this season and going by Gerrard’s comments Alfredo is absolutely one of the key pieces of his squad puzzle.

“No [I wouldn’t take £40m for Morelos] – and you can add another £10m on as well,” said Gerrard [Daily Record].

“Alfredo deserves big praise for his behaviour this season. I had a man-to-man with him and he is listening and learning but there was a realisation he needed to do it for his own career.

“He wants to be a successful international footballer for Colombia so it’s just common sense.”

Rangers have been very clear heading into the winter window that they have no intention of cashing in on the Colombian this season.

The likes of Aston Villa and Crystal Palace have previously been said to be interested but Rangers’ position on the player hasn’t budged.

For this season at the very least, El Bufalo will be the star man in blue down at Ibrox Stadium.
