Rangers’ midfielder Scott Arfield has been linked with a move to English Premier League outfit Southampton in the summer [originally Daily Mail]. But the club would need to be insane to humour it.
Whilst there’s no problem with other teams showing interest, there is if it’s at an insanely knockdown price.
The Daily Mail report claims Rangers value Scott Arfield at £3m. Yes, you read that correctly, £3m.

The Canadian captain might be 30, but what he can offer us over the duration of his contract is worth much more than £3m to us. Any notion that Rangers would sell him at this price is verging on bonkers.
The club is also trying to improve and strengthen their team, not weaken it. Rangers will not realistically be able to replace Scott Arfield with someone of sufficient calibre, experience and ability for £3m.
Signing the player on a free from Burnley last summer is proving to be one of the best pieces of business this season.
His hattrick against Motherwell came as Gerrard shunted Scott further up the pitch. You really feel now we’ll get to see the best of the intelligent, box-to-box player.
Any idea we should sell him at all is crazy, but the notion he’s only worth £3m to us is insane.
Every player has his price, and you’d imagine Scott’s comes somewhere just over double that figure.
That’s how much this player who has been compared to Arfield went for last summer [originally Evening Times]. And coincidentally to the same club.
