Only a week ago Rangers wonderkid Leon King was making his Scottish Premiership debut against Livingston but this week he was back amongst the U18s.

Bringing the talented 17-year-old central defender right back down to Earth, Leon started a match for the Gers U18s against rivals Hibernian.

And the Gers showed their superiority at this level as they went into the halftime break 3-0 up courtesy of goals from Ross McCausland, Robbie Ure and Charlie Lindsay.

Ure would add a second in the second half to make it 4-0 and this is how it would stay in an impressive victory for the young Gers.

King is considered amongst the brightest talents at the Rangers Training Centre and has been heavily involved in first-team training throughout the season.

Alongside 18-year-old Ciaran Dickson, a 16-year-old King made his Rangers debut in the League Cup against Falkirk in November last year.

Taking to the field against Livingston was a major step in the player’s development and he was also involved in those Trophy Day celebrations after the victory over Aberdeen.

Once linked to Premier League giants such as Liverpool, Chelsea and RB Leipzig [Daily Record], it was considered a major coup to sign the player on a two-year deal last season.

King earned the plaudits of captain James Tavernier for his involvement in the 3-0 win over Livingston.

The highly-rated young defender was also included in matchday squads in the Europa League this season and this is something which will have had a profound effect on the youngster.
