Rangers fans are being urged to give women’s football a chance by club midfielder Caitlin O’Hara.
The comments come as the Rangers women prepare for their first match at the club’s Hummel Training Centre.
The Rangers women take on Glasgow Girls in the SSE Scottish Women’s Cup third round this weekend, and O’Hara is hoping the new HTC stand and legacy of the summer’s World Cup will help inspire supporters to follow the team.

“We are very fortunate to play here, the pitch is amazing, the backdrop is amazing and it’s great,” said O’Hara [Rangers.co.uk].
“Hopefully we can get fans along and they can come and back us as well.
“We need people to come along. You might be sceptical about it but come and try it, and if you don’t like it after that then fair enough but come and see what it’s about.”
The comments from O’Hara come after Rangers announced major plans for their women’s side going forward.
Rangers are to integrate the women’s game fully into the club’s footballing department [Rangers.co.uk], even appointing Gregory Vignal as the women’s coach.
The news came not long after Rangers became the first club in the country to offer modern apprenticeships to young female footballers.
The wider move also means the club can now sign professional players, play their games at the Hummel Training Centre, and really compete for silverware.

For Caitlin O’Hara, that’s what it is all about. Whether it’s the male or female team, this is Rangers.
“This is Rangers, we know we are expected to bring trophies to this club so we can only do our best but we know what is expected of us and we want to bring a trophy home.”
