Ross McCrorie and Jermain Defoe both made it into the SPFL Team of the Week, earlier this month. After the recent 0-0 draw with St Johnstone, though, none of Gerrard’s men got a look in.
However, the absence of a Gers representative, would only last a week.
Ryan Kent got the nod on Tuesday, in recognition of a fantastic display at Hamilton, at the weekend.
It may seem strange that after a match day in which the Gers netted five times, their TOTW representative wasn’t one of the goalscorers.
Yet, it was the quality of Kent’s overall display that caught the eye, rather than one individual moment.
After an inspirational performance against Celtic before the winter break, the 22-year-old is going from strength to strength in 2019.

Overall, this season, he now has five goals and four assists in 18 appearances.
“Though he didn’t get on the scoresheet in Rangers’ 5-0 rout of Hamilton, the on-loan Liverpool winger was the undoubted star player as the Light Blues blew away their opponents with a storming first half showing”, read the SPFL website’s summary.
It’s hard to disagree with their verdict.

Some Rangers fans could scarcely believe how good he was on Sunday, and they’ll be hoping the club can tie this fantastic talent down to a permanent contract, come the summer.
Next in his sights are Dundee, who travel to Ibrox on Wednesday night.
